bolzano, italy

Just winging it, we googled the nearest Latter-day Saint Branch come Sunday morning. All roads lead to Bolzano, Italy.

Where the castle became a castello, beautifully built of stone and mortar.

And every surface, sloped or otherwise, was covered with rows and rows of grape vines. Seriously. There is no other need for any sort of landscape design. Nor is there room.

Having little plan, we passed the bigger city and exited, loosing ourselves in a laberynth of apple orchard.

In our lost hilarity, we fire drilled an apple grabbing. One for him and one for me. They were huge. And perfect. And tasted like sunshine. Literally.

Our meanderings lead us up the mountain slope to a tiny village of cobble stone streets, ancient architecture, and an unexpected wine festival.

We're not much for wine tasting, but the celebratory excitement was every bit as fun. With music, and dancing, and laughter, and not a word of English.

I fell in love. And not just with a handsome guy who would bring me the most perfect little hazelnut pastries ...

Or snag me grapes hanging over a wall :)
