douglas county fair 2014 (part 1)

We are still picking pine shavings out of our hair all these weeks later.

It's super hard to paint a picture the magnitude of this project.

When we are in the ground laying, it's a little like summer school. There's so much writing and math and chores and dedication and prep time involved.

And then we celebrate with a weeks of fun.

Running with friends, taking responsibilities as barn managers, shows to see, shows to participate in, interviews with judges, judging to endure, facts to study, presentations to make, opportunities to sell projects, business to be conducted, appreciation to be shown, parades to participate in, pictures for news papers, birds to wash … and wash … and wash.

This year these kids did it again. Grand Champions and Reserve Champions and other great placements totaling in an auction sale of $5500.00 to split amongst themselves. Not bad for a summer job in seven weeks time.

And after all the sweat and tears to get us there … cuz there's plenty of that too ;) … I followed them all around the fair grounds enjoying a little more time with just them.
