graduating to what comes next

We are racing toward the finish line.

Kind of figuratively and literally and I'm not really ready for that.

Thank goodness this wasn't a true "graduation" as Charlotte still has another year before kindergarten.

But I see it coming. Those "firsts of the lasts".

She talked about this party for weeks.

She had a pretty enthusiastic cheering section. Annie just soaks up little people.

Her teacher was the best thing that could have happened to us. She was so ready to be with other kids more regularly and longed for every school day with Mrs. Jeannie.

As we are moving toward leaving this place, I'm filled with more and more gratitude for people who have loved and served my children.

And ... even though this face tells how she felt about her best "frienemy" ... every day she would create "party invitations" and make pretend phone calls or engage in imaginary play at home with all of these kids even though they weren't around.

I realized in a blink, I'd watch her in a grown up cap and gown far too quickly.

With the craziness of school wrap up, we're on to our other graduations, advancements and hoopla, trying our best not to trip on our laces along the way.
