lake bled, slovenia

Lake Bled is a touristy little town built on the banks of a lake with a picturesque island housing a monastery right in the middle.

It's apparently a hub for traveling college students who stay in the hostels and backpack around, which makes it so popular.

Our Airbnb house sat right at the top and with the rainy days, the view couldn't be beat.

We whiled away some time waiting for the rains to move through.

Then headed out to explore the surrounding woods. Aren't these dual colored wildflowers amazing?

We hiked up to the hilltop castle keep.

We loved these cobbled streets. Can you imagine how much work that's got to be to lay down for a road?

The castle overlooked the entire valley.

I just loved the way those low hanging clouds drifted over the sleepy villages.

We toured the castle and apparently, Newel had a captivating story to tell. I love these faces.

There's that island monastery.

Back to hiking through the woods on our way down.

Where we were so taken by the wildlife. Just another reminder of Heaven's artistic design.
